Creator FAQ
Welcome to the Stream FAQ for Creators! Discover how to enhance your content, find new ways to get rewarded, and engage with your audience like never before.
Which platforms are supported?
Initially, Stream will be available on X Spaces. In the future, we plan to expand support to include other major platforms like YouTube Live and Twitch, broadening our reach and enhancing the experience for a diverse audience.
How does Stream work?
Stream enhances your live content with interactive overlays that introduce new ways for your audience to engage and get rewarded, all facilitated through a simple browser extension.
Will using Stream require any changes to my existing streaming setup, or is it seamlessly integrated?
No, using Stream won’t require any modifications to your current streaming setup. Integration is smooth and effortless. All you need to do is create an account on our website and encourage your audience to download the browser extension and register as well. These simple steps will enable you to immediately start engaging your audience with our interactive features, all without disrupting your existing setup.
Will Stream affect my stream’s performance or quality?
Stream's overlay is optimized for minimal impact on Streaming performance. It's designed to enhance viewer interaction without disrupting your Stream's quality or causing latency issues.
How quickly can I set up Stream on my channel?
Integrating Stream with your existing content platforms is quick and straightforward, requiring just a few simple steps that can be completed in under two minutes.
What do my fans need to fully experience Stream?
To fully enjoy the interactive experiences on Stream, your fans simply need to create an account and install the Stream browser extension. That’s all there is to it!
What kinds of interactive experiences can I use with Stream to engage my audience?
Using Stream, you can immediately start engaging your audience with interactive experiences like our first minigame, "StreamDrop." This feature allows real-time reward sharing where your viewers earn points by interacting directly during your stream. You can find more information on how exactly StreamDrop works in the "Experiences" section. Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our offerings with more minigames, trivia, and a variety of other engaging activities to keep your audience entertained and involved.
Many of my fans tune in using their mobile devices. Does Stream support mobile viewing as well?
Yes, Stream is designed to support mobile viewing, allowing your audience to tune in from various devices. While Stream is not natively integrated into the X mobile app, your audience can still fully engage with all the interactive experiences through the in-app browser. For instance, during a StreamDrop event, you can pin a link in your Space. This link will guide your audience to the interactive experience via the X in-app browser, ensuring everyone can participate seamlessly, without the need to leave the X app.
Please note, this mobile support feature will not be available immediately but is expected to be supported very soon!
How can Stream help increase the reach and visibility of my channel?
Stream boosts the visibility of your channel with our streamlined discovery feed, designed to simplify how new audiences find you. Unlike the complex interfaces of traditional platforms, Stream offers a clear and user-friendly experience. This ensures that you stand out more effectively in a crowded space, connecting you directly with potential fans seeking content that aligns with yours.
How can I get started with Stream?
Getting started with Stream is simple and straightforward. To begin, please visit the "Getting Set Up" section for detailed instructions.
Is it possible to remove the “Streamdrop may be coming” overlay after a StreamDrop happened or is this screen visible for the whole duration of a Space?
This screen is visible throughout the Space and you won’t be able to change it.
Will pinned tweets still show up while using Stream?
Yes, you will still be able to see pinned tweets as usual, but they will appear below the Stream overlay when using a desktop. You can pin tweets from both your mobile and desktop devices.
While the StreamDrop is happening, are you still able to talk to your audience or play music?
Yes, you will still be able to talk and listen to conversations and play and listen to music while StreamDrop is active. We recommend discussing the game during StreamDrop to boost participation, rather than talking over it. Playing music during StreamDrop can also enhance engagement and encourage more people to play the game.
Can I use my mobile to host a Space and then use the desktop version to run the StreamDrop?
Yes, you can start a Space using your mobile device and run a Streamdrop using the creator dashboard on your desktop (you will need to have access to your creator dashboard on desktop to run StreamDrops). The key is to ensure your Stream account is linked to your X account in the creator dashboard settings.
What are some of suggestions for higher listener adoption?
To boost listener adoption, we have found the following approaches to be highly effective: 1) Notify your listeners in advance that they will need to have the browser extension installed and tune in from a desktop to earn rewards (until mobile support is available). 2) When a StreamDrop is about to happen, do a countdown and explain what’s happening. Engage your audience by playing a game live together or playing some music. 3) Implement multiple StreamDrops during the Space. For example, you can use them as segment dividers when transitioning between topics or as a standard practice at the end of the space. This keeps the engagement high and gives listeners something to look forward to. Try to use experiences on Stream in a way that feels natural to your Space.
How long does a StreamDrop last?
For the first experience that we are rolling out, each Streamdrop will last for a minute whereas the actual gameplay should take around 20 seconds to complete. Creators are also subjected to a cooldown interval of 5 minutes per Streamdrop.
How many StreamDrops can I do?
As a host, you're welcome to run as many StreamDrops as you like during your Space, keeping in mind the 5-minute cooldown interval. The more StreamDrops you do, the more rewards you and your listeners can earn. Therefore, we recommend incorporating multiple StreamDrops throughout your Space. For reference, most hosts typically run 3-4 StreamDrops during a one-hour Space.
What do my listeners need in order to get access and play the game during the private beta and once public is live?
For the private beta, your listeners will need the following:
A Stream fan account on Stream HQ (an early access code is required to complete account setup during the private beta).
The StreamPod browser extension installed from the official Chrome Web Store.
Participation in StreamDrops from a desktop.
For a visual guide on how to set up, please follow the instructions in this tweet.
After the private beta concludes, a code will no longer be required to sign up for Stream.
Where do my listeners and I get an early access code?
Early access codes are distributed during Spaces hosted by our partner creators. Be sure to tune into these Spaces to secure your early access code. You can find a detailed schedule of these partnered Spaces in our events section on Discord.
How does the Streamdrop work, is it based on how long i'm streaming for or just random timing?
Streamdrops are activation experiences that creators can trigger manually during any part of their live streaming to allow a platform for engagement between fans and creators in meaningful ways.
Our very first experience is a whack-a-mole game that has a fixed duration. The goal for fans is to catch as many moles as they can by clicking on the buttons that lights up.
Each participant will only get 1 try per Streamdrop and will obtain a score out of 10 at the end of the experience ****
As long as you have achieved a score of 5/10 (50%), you will be eligible for base SP distributed by the Stream team. However, if your score places you in the top 100 out of all participants, you will stand a chance to earn Bonus SP awarded through the Creator Stream Points distributed.
What is the Stream creator program?
The Stream Creator Program aims to highlight X-Space hosts who are creating great content. If you’d like to apply as a creator, please do so on our website. You’ll get an email notification once your application is approved.
Is there a referral system?
During the private beta, there is no referral system in place. However, we plan to introduce a referral system with our public launch. This will allow you to earn rewards and receive perks for inviting friends to join Stream as both listeners and creators.
Aside from the whack-a-mole game, what are other experiences that you are building?
We have numerous possibilities and ideas for creating additional experiences. The next experience we’re developing is a trivia game, where hosts can ask pre-defined questions to their audience and see who answers correctly the fastest. This feature will enable hosts to run game shows with their communities, offering a new and engaging way to interact. We're continuously working on new games and experiences to enhance Stream.
