Streamdrops are activation experiences that creators can trigger manually during any part of their live streaming to allow a platform for engagement between fans and creators in meaningful ways. There are currently two types of content where streamdrops can be activated
Whenever a creator is hosting a live stream on X or Youtube, he or she will be able to log on to their creator dashboard, update their live status and activate streamdrops. For more detailed instructions on that, please refer to this page.
You can find different experiences that we have curated for creators to host in our "Experiences" tab from the creator dashboard
When the creator is launching the streamdrop panel, he or she will be given the option to select from the different experiences. Specifically for Trivia, you can configure the questions as well as the duration.
With the popular request from Creators, we have recently introduced automated streamdrops at the start of 2025 so that Creators can now have a more convenient way of managing their streamdrops while still engaging with their interactive and competitive gameplays. "Autolaunch" for streamdrop can be toggled on the control panel, once it is toggled on, streamdrops will be launched every 15 minutes.
The type of streamdrop experience launched will be randomized among all the experiences currently available except Trivia which requires manual set up.
After 2 hours the automated streamdrop will be turned off to prevent any abuse of this feature.
To ensure that Stream continues to be engaging even when creators are not running their livestreams. We have recently rolled out a new feature where streamdrops are now automatically integrated into on-demand playback videos for Youtube creators who have their account linked to Stream.
Fans will be able to go to a creator's channel and watch uploaded videos for a chance to activate streamdrop. To launch the streamdrop, at least 50% runtime of the video has to be watched.
Creators please make sure that you enable youtube embedding for your videos so that it works on Stream mobile.
Head to your youtube studio and click on the edit button for old content
Click on Show more to view the embedding option
Check and turn on "Allow Embedding"
Please note that all historically uploaded videos will need to have this video setting adjusted individually. For future uploads, it will reference the latest change and have embedding allowed by default
